Supernatural Quality

 By Maryanna Gabriel

After my last blog post, AJ and I worked hard at blocking the spot where I last saw the doe exit. She had been enjoying many garden delicacies and has recently acquired a taste for peony and rhubarb their leaves being a little tougher I suppose. Our fix wasn't pretty, but it was better than the pitch fork and certainly functional.

Three days passed and no break-ins. I celebrated. Mentally composed the blog sharing my joy. Spotted the one hopeful red Geum in my flower bed and planned to post a pictuire here as a cause celebre. I even lifted the remay from the vegetable beds and the apple tree yesterday. Slept like a baby. That is how confident I was.

Not a flower in sight.
Still some green though.
There is hope.
Shock. This morning though, she was back. Inside that is. This deer is starting to take on a supernatural quality which I know sounds off the wall but I can't help it. Like when the Navajo bad guys possess an animal to bother someone a medicine man does not like. All I can say is that this deer is not acting like a normal deer.

This morning, she had a great time snacking through the beans and the remaining rosebuds then chomped into what was left of a crunchy fatsia tree. When I made my rather heated appearnance, she exited via an open gate. So it's my fault. The thing is though, and let me be clear, she would have had to jump down six feet into a dark narrow passage with a medieval looking high stone wall to one side. It's pretty intense she came in this way. Or so I believe this was the entry point.

So now, everything is covered up again. The front gate is locked with a chain. This new point is blocked with wire and boards. I dunno know.... I really don't.
