"What is freedom
if you are afraid to think differently from everyone around you?"
- Rabindrath Tagore
Endless pumpkin. Carving one open is a daunting prospect. A pile of Scarlett Runner Beans - a happy garden discovery. A large box of quince that I managed to plough through, mostly delivered to the freezer. Then there are the piles of tomatoes, no longer greening. When they dissolve into the ground, it is sort of a sign. So I'm moving quickly.
Piles can take awhile, as the days melt earlier into darkness. One thing I was right about - the "I don't want to know" conclusion in my last blog. Maybe it's the six planets in retrograde. Or the full moon. But it's fiery out there. And in here, I can no longer complain about the heat from the sun given that I no longer have a roof. Tarps have been flapping in the wind. A roof that does not leak is sort of important. So I'm on it.
What is also making me happy is looking at Christmas recipes - my favourite kind of cookery. A different sort of pile as we journey the autumnal transit.
